The footprint jack plane is for heavy materials removal and squaring of rough timber prior to final finishing. The extra length ensures the plane does not follow contour and instead levels the wood being planed.

#4 Smooth Plane

2″ x 9-3/4″ [PRO]

The most popular bench plane. As with all footprint planes, the casting is machined and the base machine ground*1 to provide complete accuracy. The frog contact points are also machined and the mouth is broached so that it is square to the sides. The handles are made from the traditional beechwood.

The cutter is fully adjustable. For thickness of shaving, rotate knurled nut For evenness of shaving, move adjustable lever. The cutter rests on it’s seat at an angle of 21 degrees.

#60 1/2 Low Angle Block Plane 1-5/8″ x 7″ [PRO] 

The cutter rests at an angle of 12 degrees. This angle makes it easy to plane end grain. The mouth is adjustable for coarse or fine work. Finger grips in sides. Cutter adjusted endwise with knurled screw.
