A Wide range of high quality HSS turning tools at an amazing price!

Over the last year or so we have been searching for a supplier of high quality tools suitable for woodturning. They had to be constructed from high speed steel and come in a wide range of shapes and sizes. We finally managed to find a supplier out of Sheffield, England - where some of the finest steel in the world is made.

Steel & Flute Design

These tools are competitively priced and offer the durability of M2 HSS. A high quality finish allows chips to slide easily through the flute which is very important when turning.

Handle Construction

Every tool is supplied with a well shaped ash handle and fitted with a brass ferrel.

A variety of shapes and sizes gives the advantage of being able to outfit yourself with tools specific to your personal turning needs and style.

Roughing Gouges

Recommended for the initial turning of square stock to round. The shape of the roughing gouge enables the tool to cut safely with the wings (the name given to the tips of the side walls) well back from the workpiece. Bowl Gouges

A must in the tool kit of every bowl turner. These tools have both mass and stability. They are ideal for making bowls. They can produce either massive profiling cuts, or extremely delicate cuts as neccessary.

Spindle Gouges

These are detailing tools used on between-centre work, where the grain is running parallel to the bed bars.They are used to create coves, beads and other similar profiles.

Round Side Scraper

Designed for blending the parallel side wall and the curved bottom of vessels together. It is excellent for undercutting the rim of a bowl.

Diamond Side Scraper

Used on square bottomed boxes, the end profile allows the tool to create a right angled juncture between side wall and bottom. The angle at the end prevents the tool from cutting the side wall and the bottom at the same time.

• OneWay (Mastercut Tools and Handles)

After researching factors which contribute to the performance of turning tools, ONEWAY designed what we feel will be the best turning tools you will ever own. Three basic components should be considered when manufacturing or buying any tool:

• the steel
• the surface finish of the flute
• the geometry and position of the flute

We stock the following sizes in both single and double ended:

• 3/8″ Bowl Gouge

This flute was designed in conjunction with Canadian wood turner Jason Marlowe. It has a proportionately tight flute which is extremely useful for fine finishing.

• 1/2″ Bowl Gouge

This medium size deep fluted bowl gouge was designed after extensive testing and input from master turner John Jordan. It’s purpose: fine finishing cuts inside and outside of bowls with some use on spindles.

• 5/8″ Bowl Gouge

This gouge was designed with a big, wide open flute to allow maximum chip flow. The weight and strength needed to take heavy cuts is also present in this flute design.

• 1/2″ Spindle Gouge

Unlike conventional shallow gouges, the Mastercut ½” Spindle Gouge’s flute is ground above the center of the tool. The result, a very stiff tool. This extra heft is desirable when taking heavy cuts or reaching a long way off the tool rest. This extra thickness also allows the tool to be ground with either the traditional fingernail or the modern side grind.

 

Our heavy duty steel handles are covered in thick plastic for an extremely confortable feel.

Two set screws clamp the tool rigidly in place.

Our handles are available in two sizes:

• 17½” Long Tool Handle
  (approx. weight: 2½ lbs)
• 12″ Short Tool Handle
  (approx. weight: 1 ¾ lbs)

Each handle has a ½” hole at one end, and a ⅝” hole at the opposite end.

Handles have the capacity to be coupled together to make extra long handles for those special turning applications which demand a totally solid handle.

These heavyweight handles help to absorb vibration during heavy roughing cuts and add stability for fine finishing cuts. Handles are comfortable to hold and are warmer in the winter to work with than bare steel or aluminum handles.

Tool Handle Adaptors

Also available are two tool handle adaptors. These adaptors fit into the 5/8 end of the tool handles. This gives the versatility of using four different sizes of tools in one handle.

Hollowing Systems

We stock Bothe the 3/4″ & 5/8″ Sets and we have both the Straight and Bent Versions.

This is a great system for any deep hollowing or turning dry wood and wood with voids. The cutter is small and this helps in avoiding hangs. The cutter is glued into the shaft with super glue and a mild heating will allow it to pop out and be replaced. and Replacement tips are under $10.00 and we stock both the 3/4″ & 5/8″ Cutters.

Tool Handles

These handles are made of Aluminium and have a thick plastic cover on them for better grip and it keeps them from being cold to the touch in the winter. If you are looking for a light weight handle that is comfortable this is you ticket. These handles can be loaded with shot or sand to dampen vibration if desired.
