Desert Ironwood Knife Scales

Desert Ironwoods heartwood ranges from an orangish yellow to a darker red or brown, with darker violet to black streaks. Some pieces may be almost entirely black. Narrow yellow sapwood is clearly demarcated from heartwood. Due to the small size of the tree, the grain can be wild or gnarled in apperaence. It has a fine even texture and excellent natural luster. This is a very dense wood.
