This 4 1/2 inch, 15 oz  beechwood mallet is used in striking wood chisels while cutting mortises and other joints. It is essential when wood handled chisels are used.

This will quickly become your go-to tool when you need to drive a chisel deep for a mortise or when working with a particularly dense hardwood.
